About CSMC

Consumers Supporting Midwifery Care is an Ottawa area grassroots group of consumers advocating for increased access to midwifery care. Although there is a long history of consumers advocating for midwifery care in Ottawa (and Ontario), our group has recently rejuvenated itself and has begun to meet regularly.

We are concerned that women and their families are not always able to access midwifery care when that is their preferred choice. Despite the growing popularity of midwifery care, as evidenced in the long waiting lists, The Ottawa Hospital intends to decrease the number of midwives with privileges at the Civic and the General Campuses.

We meet monthly at the home of one of our members. Our meetings are open to everyone, and we encourage new members to get involved and join us.
