Choice. Access. Midwives campaign needs your help
Now is the Time! The campaign CHOICE. ACCESS. MIDWIVES. is coming to a close October 17th, 2012. If you have not taken the time to sign our e-letter please so do now at http://www.canadianmidwives.org and share this campaign.
The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) launched the campaign Choice. Access. Midwives. to draw attention to the lack of access to midwifery care faced by many women and families in Canada. 3700 people have signed so far, but to reach 5000 by next week, we need 300 signatures a day until then!
The campaign Choice. Access. Midwives. highlights three specific issues surrounding access to midwifery care:
- lack of access in unregulated provinces and territories,
- lack of access for Aboriginal communities, and
- lack of access for many families in rural and remote regions of Canada.
The main action of this campaign is to encourage all Canadians to sign an e-letter that is sent directly to Prime Minister Harper and Health Minister Aglukkaq.
This campaign will close at the CAM Annual Conference in St. John’s, NL October 17 where the hope is to present the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and all Canadians with an impressive number of signatures.
